Projects

Projects are containers within an organisation that hold your scenes, files, and jobs. A project keeps related work together and is the level at which file storage and access permissions are configured.

What you can see and do inside a project is controlled by your project-level permissions, either granted directly or through a role scoped to that project.

Opening a Project

Select an organisation, then choose a project from its project list. Within a project you'll find tabs for:

  • Scenes — 3D scenes you load in udStream and other udSDK applications.
  • Files — the data behind your scenes (point clouds, imagery, models).
  • Jobs — automated processing tasks.
  • Settings — project name, tags, and file storage (see below).

Creating, Renaming and Deleting Projects

Members with the Manage Projects permission can create, rename, and delete projects:

  • Create — from the organisation's project list, create a new project and give it a name (minimum two characters). A project ID is generated automatically.
  • Rename — change the project name from the project Settings tab.
  • Delete — deleting a project removes it and all of its contents. This cannot be undone.

The View Projects permission controls whether a project is listed at all; without it a project is hidden, though a user may still reach scenes or files within it if they hold the relevant permissions.

Project Settings

The Settings tab gathers the project-wide configuration:

Name

Change the project's display name. The project ID cannot be changed.

Tags

Define the catalogue of tags that can be applied to the project's scenes. Each tag has a name and an optional colour chosen from a fixed palette. Managing the tag catalogue requires the Manage Projects permission. See Scenes → Tags for how tags are then applied and used to filter scenes.

File Storage

Connect a storage backend (Amazon S3 or Azure Blob Storage) so the project can hold files. Configuring storage requires the Configure File Settings permission. See Files → Connecting Storage and the setup guides for S3 and Azure.
